Juniper (Juniperus communis)

You are buying 1 organically grown Juniper (Juniperus communis) plant in a 2 litre pot.

Please note:
Potted plants are available year-round. We always aim to process orders within two days, however there may be unavoidable delays in despatch during extreme weather, so please be patient.

Organically and sustainably grown in our forest garden here at Poet’s Acre, located in the heart of 1000 acres of organic farmland and ancient woodland in rural North Norfolk. Plants are grown as part of a sustainable management plan that encourages diversity and resilience. The land here is completely organic, we do not use pesticides or sprays of any kind.

Plant Care

Your Juniper will arrive in a 2 litre pot with a healthy root system. On arrival, water the plant if the compost feels dry. You may pot it on into a larger container for further growth or plant directly into the garden.

Choose a sunny position with free-draining soil, ideally sandy or rocky. Dig a hole slightly larger than the pot, remove the plant, and set it at the same depth it was growing in the pot. Firm gently and water well. Space 1.5–3m apart depending on use.

Juniper is drought-tolerant and low-maintenance once established. Only minimal pruning is required.

Postage & Packaging

Price includes postage, and we send all our plants by Royal Mail 48 with tracking. We aim to post items within 2 working days of your order, weather permitting. We use as much recycled material for packaging as possible.

About Juniper (Juniperus communis)

Juniper is a slow-growing, hardy evergreen shrub or small tree native to Britain and much of Europe. It grows to 3–6m tall, with spiny needle-like leaves and aromatic berries that take two years to ripen. It is an ancient native species with strong cultural significance.

Culinary Uses

The berries are edible and widely used to flavour gin, marinades, and game dishes.

Garden Uses

Suited to rock gardens, heathlands, and naturalistic or wildlife plantings. Its evergreen form provides structure year-round.

Wildlife Uses

The berries are eaten by birds and mammals, while the dense branches provide nesting and winter shelter for many species.
