About Fig Tree ‘Brown Turkey’
The Fig Tree ‘Brown Turkey’ (Ficus carica) is one of the most reliable and hardy fig varieties, perfect for growing in UK climates. Known for its delicious, sweet, and juicy fruits, this variety produces an abundant crop in late summer, with large, rich brown-purple figs that have a delightfully red, sweet centre. Ideal for growing in a sunny, sheltered spot, ‘Brown Turkey’ thrives in well-drained soil and benefits from being planted against a south-facing wall or fence for extra warmth. This self-fertile tree can be grown in the ground or a large container, making it perfect for patios or smaller gardens. Prune in winter to maintain its shape and encourage better fruiting. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or a beginner, the ‘Brown Turkey’ fig tree is a low-maintenance, high-reward addition to your garden. Enjoy homegrown figs straight from your own tree!

Plant Care
Remove from packaging as soon as possible and soak in clean water for a while before planting into larger pot or final position. Plants become dormant in the autumn and grow vigorously in the spring.

Easy to grow in full sun if kept watered and sheltered and restrict the roots for better fruiting.

Tolerant of dry weather but water regularly in their first season and mulch well.

Edible Uses
Plants provide plenty of large sweet and delicious fruits once established in late summer. Leaves used for making infusions.
