You are buying 4x Blackcurrant 'Poet's Pie' Bareroot 20-30cm - Organic
Please note:
Bare-rooted plants are only available during the dormant season between November and March. We always aim to process orders within two days, however there may be unavoidable delays in despatch if the ground is frozen, so please be patient.
The Blackcurrant ‘Poet’s Pie’ (Ribes nigrum) is a highly productive and flavourful variety, perfect for UK gardens. Known for its rich, sweet-tart berries, this variety produces heavy clusters of glossy black fruits in mid-summer, ideal for fresh eating, jams, desserts, and of course, the perfect homemade pie. ‘Poet’s Pie’ thrives in well-drained, fertile soil and prefers a sunny or partially shaded position. It’s a hardy and low-maintenance shrub, making it suitable for both experienced gardeners and beginners. Regular pruning in winter helps maintain its shape and encourages vigorous new growth for better fruit production. Whether grown in a garden bed or large container, Blackcurrant ‘Poet’s Pie’ is a must-have for anyone who loves growing their own delicious, homegrown fruit. Enjoy a bountiful harvest year after year!
Organically and sustainably grown in our woodland here at Poet's Acre, located in the heart of 1000 acres of organic farmland and ancient woodland in rural North Norfolk.
Plants are propagated on site. The land here is completely organic, we do not use pesticides, or sprays of any kind.
Plant Care
Remove from packaging as soon as possible and soak in clean water for a while before planting into large pot or final position. If weather is inclement heal-in plants in compost or soil to prevent them from drying and protect them from frost. Plants become dormant in the autumn and grow vigorously in the spring.
Tolerant of dry weather but water regularly in their first season and mulch well.
Edible Uses
Black currants provide plenty of delicious fruits once established in the summer. Leaves can be dried or used fresh for infusions.
Postage & Packaging
Price includes postage, we send all our plants Royal Mail 2nd class to minimise costs for you. We aim to post items on the day after we receive the order, at most within 2 working days, as long as the weather is ok.
