You are buying 4x Whitecurrant 'Versailles' Bareroot Plants
Please note:
Bare-rooted plants are only available during the dormant season between November and March. We always aim to process orders within two days, however there may be unavoidable delays in despatch if the ground is frozen, so please be patient.
The Whitecurrant ‘Versailles’ (Ribes rubrum) is a highly productive and reliable variety, perfect for UK gardens. Known for its translucent, pale-yellow berries, this currant produces heavy clusters of sweet, tangy fruits in mid-summer, making them ideal for fresh eating, jams, jellies, or desserts. Thriving in well-drained, fertile soil, ‘Versailles’ prefers a sunny or partially shaded position and is easy to grow with minimal maintenance. This hardy shrub is also self-fertile, ensuring a dependable crop year after year. Regular winter pruning encourages strong growth and improves fruit yield. Whether planted in the garden or in a large container, Whitecurrant ‘Versailles’ is a fantastic choice for gardeners looking to enjoy sweet, homegrown fruit straight from the bush.
Organically and sustainably grown in our woodland here at Poet's Acre, located in the heart of 1000 acres of organic farmland and ancient woodland in rural North Norfolk.
Plants are propagated on site. The land here is completely organic, we do not use pesticides, or sprays of any kind.
Plant Care
Remove from packaging as soon as possible and soak in clean water for a while before planting into large pot or final position. If weather is inclement heal-in plants in compost or soil to prevent them from drying and protect them from frost. Plants become dormant in the autumn and grow vigorously in the spring.
Tolerant of dry weather but water regularly in their first season and mulch well.
Edible Uses
White currants provide plenty of delicious fruits once established in the summer.
